LAKE COMO – CastaDiva Resort

So we’ve all heard about how magical Lake Como Italy is and believe me the reality of it is way more enchanting than you could ever imagine. I was lucky enough to be invited down to the stunning CastaDiva Resort & Spa along with 3 other bloggers for the weekend.

The first thing I couldn’t believe was how short the flight was, it only took 1.5 hours from London, shorter than a train to Paris!

When I first arrived at CastaDiva Resort & Spa I was honestly blown away, I have never seen a view so stunning and magical before. The attention to detail in the resort was just immaculate. I’m a big fan of traditional architecture that has a luxurious vibe and this was exactly that.

This resort is pure 5* luxury at its finest, located on the east side of Lake Como, in the lovely village of Blevio. It consists of nine villas with a total of 73 rooms, 58 of them are suites and junior suites and 2 are private villas, all of which are surrounded by beautiful old age trees and stunning flowers.

The CastaDiva Resort & Spa is a unique place like no other I have visited before, its the perfect place to pamper yourself and replenish your mind, body and soul in complete luxury and privacy.

CastaDiva is the first eco friendly resort on Lake Como and took almost 10 years to construct, adopting solutions that fully respect its environment and meeting the highest standards of eco-sustainability. Special procedures make the resort truly unique such as; the production of clean energy through a heat exchanger by drawing water from the lake for an adjustable air conditioning system.

Myself and 3 other bloggers went for the weekend and had so much fun! Along with staying at this incredible hotel we were lucky enough to have a private boat tour from the CastaDiva resident speed boat that drove us to lunch in Bellagio! We were given an almost “Hollywood Homes” tour of the lake, seeing the likes of; George Clooney, Donatella Versace, Richard Branson and the Villa in Casino Royale! It truly was very interesting to see the homes all up close.

After digesting the Hollywood Como tour we took the speed boat for lunch in Bellagio which was so beautiful and exactly how you imagine Italy to be. It’s actually where the infamous Bellagio Las Vegas gets its name from! We had a beautiful day here with a wonderful lunch at restaurant.

In the early 19th century, Villa Roccabruna – the core of CastaDiva Resort – was known as “Casino Ribiere” from the name of its owner, Madame Ribier, an eccentric french dressmaker from Paris who, while in Milan under the French rule, made a fortune dressing the ladies of the high society (such as Joséphine Beauharnais) and possibly “undressing their husbands”. According to a legend, she was indeed very libertine by nature.
Later, Giuditta Pasta bought the villa in 1827 with the first money she earned as a singer, and renamed it to Villa Roda.
The former Villa Roda was completely rebuilt according to the “Liberty style” between 1906 and 1910 being owned by the Wild Family until 1950’s. For almost 50 years Villa Roccabruna remained uninhabited. In the Year 2000 it was purchased by The Italian Company Hotel Residence Club And is now The Casta Diva Resort.

The Spa at CastaDiva Resort is the biggest one on the lake, spanning over 1,300 Sqm…and it was just outstanding! It has the outdoor heated pool which is floating, which is very surreal and it makes you feel like you are swimming in the middle of the giant lake!

The wellness area of the CastaDiva SPA includes: sauna, steam bath, mediterranean bath, relaxation pool with side jest, vitality pool with hydro massage and chromotherapy, Kneipp circuit, balancing himalayan rose salt room, refreshing ice cascade, emotional showers with peppermint and exotic fragrances, Darsena relax area and finally a fitness center with Kinesis and state-of-the-art equipment by Technogym.

I was lucky enough to have a massage in one of the private spa suites. Now I have had plenty of massages in my time but the Earth suite I got was honestly crazy and so incredible. The spa boasts 4 Unique couple suites which all have a different element themes and facilities:

This is where I had my massage and is my favourite of the 4! Built in a cave all the treatments that are provided here are related to Earth. Purifying experience ending with an oil massage with delicate spicy fragrances.

The suite features; Raxul Bath, two massage beds, a relaxation area with large heated double water bed and shower.

The highlight of this suite is the large jacuzzi for relaxing your mind, body and soul. A wide range of couple treatments are available or a revitalising massage with essential oils.

The suite features; whirlpool, jacuzzi, two massage beds and a relaxation area with a large heated water bed.

The treatments provided here remind you of the lightness of air: hammam and marble beds for skin purifying treatments.

The suite features: two massage  beds, hammam, marble ded, relaxation area with large round water bed and a private shower.

Red and Fire, its the most striking suite the Spa has! It offers a Sweat Sauna and Hammam offering 4 different programmes within an ever changing sound, colour and heat setting that rebalances the metabolic functions.

The Suite Features: Two massage beds, Sweat Sauna and Spa, relaxation area with two chaise lounges and shower.

My one bedroom penthouse suite was simply divine! I loved the view of the lake as it was high up in the mountain looking down upon the resort and the view of the lake was outstanding. I loved the style of the penthouse suite because it has a traditional along with a modern vibe mixed together and it worked perfectly!

My room was huge, spanning 1,500 sqft with a kitchen, dining area, living room, walk in closet, bathroom, separate bedroom and not one but two terraces!

Whenever I think of a trip to Italy I get so excited for the food! I love nothing more than bread, pasta, cheese and balsamic vinegar!

The L’Orangerie Restaurant is the main restaurant of the resort. The resident Chef Massimiliano Mandozzi has designed a menu fit for royalty. Each evening I didn’t know what menu to expect and was surprised with a typically Italian dinner consisting of lots courses along with plenty of fine wine!

The food was exquisite, the presentation, attention to detail and taste of every course was just mind blowing and I would highly recommend going to this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is situated right on the lake front with beautiful sunset views along with a front row view of the hotels water fountain show!

After dinner each night we would always head to Bar Bellini for cocktails (the lychee martini and passion fruit martinis were spot on!) and it is just so grand and luxurious. All the staff were so pleasant and accommodating and made us feel right at home.

This dessert was to die for! It was after 6 courses, but I ate the whole thing!

Bar Bellini in The main building is Stunning for Cocktails!

The Attention to detail with all the courses was outstanding!

This is the L’Orangerie Restaurant, where would would have our wonderful dinners.

To conclude my weekend at The CastaDiva Resort & Spa, I can honestly say I had the most incredible weekend! I had such a wonderful time with the other bloggers attending. We ate way too much food but it was all worth it! 😉

I highly recommend a trip to this resort, it is just such wonderful place and I cannot wait to go back again! Pictures really don’t do it justice, trust me!

I hope you all enjoyed my insight to the CastaDiva Resort in Lake Como and I hope you get to experience it in the flesh like I did!
